Summary
Writing A deep reflection on reading two Mexican Male Author’s working in very different genres and contexts captures how explorations of Mexican cultural history inform critiques of the Eurocentric biases in design, culture-making, and education. An assignment centered on the history of zines, encouraging students to engage with grassroots publishing traditions. I revisit a 2021 piece of writing that details a "parachute" of support for students in institutions historically dominated by privileged populations.
Notes Reflections on reading Chicana Movidas, A Woman is a School, and Corita Kent’s learning by heart. The thesis statement for the Garden is begining to take shape.
Projects The Imago DEIsign “book” gets a cover revision and an expanded interior. Previous writing is refined in the design draft of the project. “Generous Context” is provided for the altar series in the form of a playful deck of oracle cards. Shipping of ideas is documented through Faculty Lounge meetups, Instagram, and Substack.
Care & Feeding Documenting the moments of the last past month that “filled my cup” and made it possible for me to keep doing the good work. Noticing the blessings, and expressing gratitude for them.
